How accurate is your sizing for handmade hats?
Sizing is based on average head circumference measurements. It is recommended that you measure the head circumference using a soft measuring tape and select based on those measurements rather than selecting the age average alone.
What's the best way to wash/clean my handmade item?
It will vary from product to product. Almost all my items will have care instructions on the actual listing, and on the product tag attached to your item. I've also put together a blog post going over all the details of caring for your handmade items. Check it out HERE.
For handmade items, even if the yarn used allows to be machine washed, I always recommend not doing that for the longevity of your product.
I recommend a no-rinse wash like Eucalan, which you can find in my store HERE. With the merino baby blankets, I provide you with a sample of Euculan.
Never place your faux fur poms in the dryer. Leave them to air dry and if they need fluffing up, use a hairdryer. They are totally removable, so if you do need to wash your hat, untie you pom from the inside of your hat, and reattach once your hat has been washed and dried.
Also, be mindful that Merino wool will shrink if put in the dryer. To avoid disappointment, always lay flat and air dry.
What type of yarn do you use?
The listing for each item will state what type of fibre is used. I've also created an easy way to search by fibre content in the menu at the top of my website.
Are your items really handmade?
I make all the items myself, and I purchase the Faux Fur Pom Poms from another Canadian small business who hand makes each one! Be assured that each item is made with much detail and care. The leather tags and buttons are also designed and made by yet another small Canadian business.
How long does it take for my order to ship? Does my shipped order include tracking? Will I be charged duty or taxes?
This all depends on the season and the item being ordered.

HOW DO I USE AFTERPAY?
Shop Ocean Peak Designs as usual — just choose "Afterpay" as your payment method at checkout, register with Afterpay and provide payment details (they accept Visa or Mastercard). If you’ve used Afterpay before, just log in to your Afterpay account and complete your order — it’s that easy!
Please note: all items in your shopping bag must be eligible for Afterpay, and the total value must be between $35-$2000.
HOW DOES THE AFTERPAY PAYMENT SCHEDULE WORK?
All Afterpay customers are required to make their first payment at the time of purchase. Three remaining installment payments are deducted automatically from your selected payment method every two weeks. If you would like to make additional unscheduled payments before they are due, you may log in to Afterpay to make your payments early. Afterpay will then adjust your amount owed accordingly.
You can log in to your Afterpay account anytime to view your payment schedule or make a payment before the next due date.
WHEN WILL MY ITEMS BE DELIVERED IF I USE AFTERPAY?
Like any Ocean Peak Designs order, Afterpay orders are delivered within our standard shipping time frames. For custom orders, Afterpay customers will get preference and time to ship will never exceed 14 days, no matter how busy we get. Visit Shipping Policies for more details.

FURLS HAS DISCONTINUED HOOKS?
Yes actually. Furls has begun discontinuing hooks. The first hook they have discontinued is the Cafe Streamline Swirl hook as of October 1st, 2022. My understanding is that more will follow. Because of this discontinuation, any and all warrantied discontinued hooks will be treated on a case by case basis. Furls may not have stock and in the event that they don't, then a refund would be the next option.
HOW SHOULD I STORE MY HOOKS?
Each hook is a handmade, one of a kind, work of art made by a craftperson just like you. Please treat your hooks with care and make sure not to drop your hooks - they can be fragile if dropped and they roll on flat surfaces. Keeping your hook in it's box, a leather clutch, or a stand is the best way to prevent rolling and dropping. Storing your hook with the hook down will also increase the likely-hood of breaking and will also void the warranty.
HOW OFTEN DO FURLS PRODUCTS BREAK?
Less than 02.4% of all Furls products experience damages or need repairs (1/4 of the global consumer goods industry standard of 11.3% defects), and we back every product by a replacement or refund warranty. If something breaks during normal use, we'll fix it and make the situation right.

I'M HAVING A PROBLEM USING MY HOOK. HELP!
It might take some time to adjust to using a Furls hook. You may find your grip will naturally adapt to using an ergonomic hook. Our customers often report that once they become acclimated to their Furls hook, they prefer them over all others.
HOW DO I CLEAN / CARE FOR MY FURLS HOOKS?
Alpha Series: Your Alpha Series wooden hook should be polished every couple of months for best results. We recommend Howard Feed 'n' Wax Wood Polish & Conditioner made from Beeswax and Orange. Pay special attention to the top and bottom ends of your Alpha hook(s): if they start to look like bare wood, they just need a polish.
Odyssey: Gently wipe down with a damp cloth.
Streamline Wood: Gently wipe down with a damp cloth.

Furls Fiberarts guarantees that our products are the most luxurious and beautiful fiberarts tools and notions you have ever experienced. If your Furls products do not make your art a more comfortable, luxurious, and beautiful experience, return them for a full refund within 90 days of your purchase.
If you do not immediately experience less hand fatigue, if your stitches do not become more even, if you do not find your fiberart more enjoyable, or if you are not artistically pleased with the aesthetics of your product, return them - pain-free, for a full refund!
All Furls Crochet hooks are guaranteed under the Furls Crochet Promise (see above) to perform to a certain standard. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with your Furls Crochet hook or your Furls Hook fails to live up to our Promise, you are entitled to a 100% refund or a replacement or exchange within 90 days of your purchase. All returned or exchanged products 90 days after the purchase date will be subject to a 5% restocking fee with a minimum of $5.00 CAD. Proof of purchase, in the form of your email address, order number, or original order receipt/confirmation, is required for all returns, replacements, and refunds.
REPLACEMENTS, REFUNDS, EXCHANGES
Any product returned for replacement, exchange, refund MUST be returned in good-as-new condition to be eligible, including it's box. It's recommended you keep the packaging and shipping packaging you received your hook in to make it easier to return. As the customer, you are responsible for shipping the product back to Ocean Peak Designs with packaging/shipping materials that prevent damage during transit and also covering the cost of return shipping. Returned product received in poor condition will not be eligible for a replacement, exchange, refund, etc. Original shipping is non-refundable.
BREAKAGES AND DEFECTS
Products broken by customer negligence (rolls off table, dog chewed, etc.) are no longer covered by Furls warranty. Defective products or products that break in transit or in normal use are eligible for a replacement or full refund at any time. Please also read above on how to care for your hooks. Storing them incorrectly will also void your warranty.
In the case that your crochet hook head breaks while using or is defective, please email me at Jasmine@oceanpeakdesigns.ca and I will take care of your replacement ASAP. Furls will issue multiple replacements on defective products. Furls will not issue more than 2 consecutive replacements on wear and tear on Candy Shop paint.
LOST PACKAGES + FALSE DELIVERIES
CANADA orders must wait 30 days after a false delivery before a replacement is issued. Customer must contact their local post office.
International orders must wait 60 days after a false delivery before a replacement is issued. Customer must contact their local post office.
Australian or South African orders must wait 120 days after a false delivery before a replacement is issued. Customer must contact their local post office.
